Photography has been a lifelong source of friendship and adventure for me and I’ve been learning the craft since I was a kid. I photographed my first wedding when I was still in college and now I’ve photographed over 500 with some as far away as Hawaii and India though most are in the Nashville area.
I live with my wife Sam and 15 year old daughter Sophie in Brentwood along with our dog and 2 cats. We love music and art in our house and there are usually records playing and guitars laying about. If I can’t find one of my girls they are probably in the art room melting glass in the kiln or sewing something silly for our Yorkie to wear. I love conversation and laughter so I’m a big fan of the things that lead to more of it: road trips, campfires, craft beer and comedy. I love spending time with my girls; kayaking in the summer, skiing in the winter and traveling whenever we can. I play sports (especially soccer, softball and tennis) but I don’t watch much.
I don’t take myself too seriously but I take wedding photography very seriously. The friendships I build with my clients are lasting and often lead to yearly get togethers for maternity, baby, and family photos. I’m so lucky that I have a job that adds purpose and meaning to my life and it just happens to be a ton of fun!
I work hard to capture striking portraits but the bulk of my deliverables feature real moments. I document the laughter and tears because I know we look at photos not just to see what we were wearing but to remember how we felt. I’m proud of my lighting work and vibrant editing style but as you look through my photos and videos I hope you will agree that I capture the joy. I hope they make you feel something and that some of that joy will rub off on you.
In addition to weddings I do commercial shoots for well known companies like Amazon, Lifetime, Discovery Channel/HGTV, Grand Ole Opry, Trek Bikes, and Health Magazine. I believe the challenges I face in commercial photography make me a better wedding photographer. I like to mix things up but I’m most drawn to capturing real life, real love, and real laughter. I love weddings because the emotions are genuine and the work is personal. I am proud to be leaving a legacy of art and family history all around Nashville.
My motivation is pure. I want to share my creativity and I want my clients to be ecstatic about their photos!
